Tribute Tree in the Honor of Brian John Zamkotowicz
June 1, 1973 - November 6, 2019

The Shade Tree Commission from time to time votes to dedicate a tree in the name of an individual to be recognized for their community service and dedication to the Borough of Atlantic Highlands. Candidates for this award can be nominated by any Atlantic Highlands resident or business.

A nomination goes to Brian John Zamkotowicz, an Atlantic Highlands resident with an outstanding community work history.

Brian John Zamkotowicz was an Atlantic Highlands resident with an outstanding community work history. His story began in 2006 when he and his wife settled in Atlantic Highlands. Sadly, he passed away unexpectedly at age 46 on November 6, 2019.

Brian’s family was his life and he spent every spring, fall, and winter coaching soccer, basketball, and baseball for his boys, which ultimately expanded to the rest of our town. Anyone fortunate enough to have him as a coach looked forward to his weekly emails, highlighting each player and their strengths.

Brian was so deeply loved by all his friends and family. He was funny, witty, sarcastic, generous, and such a loving husband, father, colleague, and friend. Brian is being honored for his dedication and commitment to his community and its children.

• Coached Sandy Hook Little League from 2012 - 2019
• Coached Atlantic Highlands Recreation basketball from 2013 - 2018
• Coached Atlantic Highlands Recreation soccer from 2013 - 2019
• Active with the Boy Scouts 2017 - 2019 
• Volunteered with Atlantic Highlands beach clean-ups and fundraised for local hurricane relief
• Volunteer with the Blessing Bag Brigade and the Red Cross
