Indoor Conservation Guidelines
In October ,2025 the NJ state department of environmental Protection (DEP) issued a drought watch following A prolonged Period of low precipitation throughout the state. On December 5th of 2025, after sever water supply concern was assessed by state officials, the drought watch was Upgraded to a drought warning across the State urging people to conserve water.
Based on the statewide drought warning issued by the NJ State DEP, the Atlantic Highlands Borough s Water
Department is urging all our customers to limit all nonessential water use by following the guidelines below:
1-Turn off the tap while brushing your teeth, shaving, or washing dishes in the sink
2-Run dishwashers and clothes washers only when full, if you have a water-saver cycle use it.
3-Take shorter showers. Try to shower in 5 minutes or less.
4-Be a leak detective. Find and fix leaks and breaks in hoses, sprinkler systems, pipes and toilets.
5-Insulate exposed water pipes with pre-slit foam insulation to maintain warmth and avoid wasting water while it heats up.
6-Consider water and energy-efficient appliances. Products and services that have earned the US EPA
WaterSense label have been certified to be at least 20 % more efficient without sacrificing performance.
